Summary
The Ferrari 375 F1 from 1950 and 1951 was a very successful racing car. Ingeniere Lampredi's engine delivered 350 hp, and the chassis and shape were on a par with Alfa Romeo. In 1951, Scuderia Ferrari won three Grand Prix with it, the same number as Alfa Romeo. Nevertheless, Fangio became world champion in an Alfa Romeo.

Preview (beginning of the article)
At the 1950 Italian GP in Monza, the Ferrari 375 F1 made its debut with the 4.4-liter engine. The V12 with a displacement of exactly 4494 cm3 produced an output of 350 hp at 7000 rpm. Ferrari now became a serious rival to the Alfetta for the first time. This was clearly demonstrated the following year, 1951, when the Ferrari equaled the Alfetta's performance with three victories. Nevertheless, Fangio became world champion with a six-point lead over the two Ferraris of Ascari and Gonzàles. The Argentinian won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and Ascari the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring and the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
