Summary
On October 10 and 11, 2013, RM in Hershey auctioned 115 vehicles of predominantly American origin. Around 2/3 of the offerings were from the pre-war period. While some automobiles, such as a Graber-Packard, sold well above the estimated price, in other cases collectors were able to acquire extremely rare American treasures at very reasonable prices. This auction report analyzes the sales results, showing many of the vehicles in pictures and all the results in an extensive sortable table.

Preview (beginning of the article)
RM Auctions auctioned 115 vehicles in Hershey on October 10 and 11, 2013. The offering was dominated by American cars, with around 2/3 of the vehicles dating from before 1940. Many difficult-to-classify pre-war exotics increased the suspense as to how high the bids would go. 90% of the vehicles, 43% of which were offered without a minimum selling price, were sold. The average hammer price achieved was 90% of the estimated value and the total of all bids also reached 91% of the total average estimated value. There were large swings, because while individual vehicles reached up to 175% of the estimated price, the cheapest lot was sold for just 35% of the mean estimated value.
